In Singapore, the minimum salary levels for difference categories of Employment Passes will increase on July 1, 2011.

 

In general, the minimum requirements to qualify for an Employment Pass are: 

  • A fixed salary as required for the specific EP category  
  • Appropriate education and/or professional experience

Singapore has 3 categories of Employment Passes - P1, P2 and Q1.  These are all for "Professional, Managerial, Executive or Specialist jobs" as described on the Singapore Ministry of Manpower website. The primary differences between the categories are as follows:

Ministry of Manpower Minister Gan Kim Yong has said that, "The change is prompted by the improving profile of the local workforce and to encourage companies to hire more qualified foreigners."
